About Us

Conservation Ink is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Our mission is to strengthen culture and conservation by supporting print, video, and multimedia publishing projects.

Where we started

With a grant from National Geographic in 2003, Conservation Ink created a series of maps, books, cards and other materials designed to promote awareness of Mongolia’s emerging national parks. At the time, no visitor publications existed. The parks needed support, but it was clear that without public awareness, there would be little public protection. Our goal was to put Mongolia’s parks on the map. Literally.

The following year, we created the Nomadic Nature Trunk program. We designed a science and nature curriculum that traveled in trunks, serving communities bordering the parks, to increase students’ understanding of the value Mongolia’s protected areas.

With both projects turned over to Mongolian stewards, we set our sights on the Western U.S.

Where we are today

Currently, we focus on similar issues in the American West — on the modern frontier between culture and conservation. The Story Group is the program partner of Conservation Ink that produces multimedia content for broadcast, radio and print outlets on western issues. Our projects are supported by state and foundation grants, and donations from individuals passionate about the West.
